"Science that connects. Health that transcends" conference announced
With the aim of disseminating the latest trends in innovation in digital health, precision medicine and prediction, generating a networking space for companies and industry, and motivating participants to develop innovative projects with an impact on health, the first health innovation congress "Science that connects. Health that transcends" was announced this morning, co-sponsored by the Civil Hospital of Guadalajara and the University Center of Los Altos (Cualtos) of the University of Guadalajara (UdeG) .
The event will take place from October 22 to 24 of this year at the Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG) film library . Keynote lectures, panels, and workshops will be held in seven disciplinary modules, with specialists from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Spain, the United States, and Mexico . The cost of the ticket is 500 pesos.
This first congress will also feature a health innovation competition , the " Innova Lab 2025 " Hackathon , aimed at healthcare professionals, students, graduates, researchers, teachers, and the general public. The goal is to promote innovative work in the fields of public and clinical health through specialized training and the development of viable business models.
Participating projects must fall into one of the eight thematic areas of the competition : bioinformatics, healthcare regulation, virtual reality in healthcare, telehealth, genomics, translational medicine, data science, and artificial intelligence applied to healthcare. First place will win 20,000 pesos , second place 10,000, and third place 5,000. In addition, selected projects will receive personalized mentoring , specialized training in regulations, scientific and technological development, connections with experts and strategic networks, financing options, incubation by the Center for Innovation and Incubation for Organizations (CIIO), and the possibility of receiving co-investment funds.

Project pre-validation will take place from August 21st to September 10th, where the 10 finalists will be selected. The awards ceremony will take place during the Health Innovation Congress, while the incubation program for the winners will run from November 2025 to October 2026.
The general director of the Civil Hospital of Guadalajara, María Elena González González, announced that, as part of this congress and competition, the hospital will inaugurate the innovation project incubator , with the aim of scaling up projects that impact public health. She also emphasized that the Civil Hospital and the University of Guadalajara seek to innovate and have a significant impact on society by generating knowledge, optimizing processes, and improving diagnoses with precise and effective treatments.
"We're going to move from innovation, not just as a rhetoric, but also into a very tangible reality because we're going to have life-transforming results that will improve the care conditions of our patients and build a future in healthcare [...]. The objective of this health innovation congress is very clear : to bring together experts, researchers, all healthcare professionals to share knowledge, share experiences that transform our medical practice," he commented.
For her part, Gretta Odett Nava Torres, head of the Innovation Department of the General Coordination of Planning and Development at the Civil Hospital of Guadalajara , noted that this congress will feature a partnership between academia, business, and government to forge long-term relationships. She explained that an attendance of 800 people is expected.
Finally, the rector of Cualtos, Antonio Ponce Rojo, emphasized that this congress will lay the foundations for innovation at the Guadalajara Civil Hospital , in addition to generating and sharing knowledge with specialists.
"Specialists in all areas, but specifically in the area of innovation, come to the conference to present their experiences and the problems they faced, or the issues they had to overcome to get to where they are now," he mentioned.
